Abstrak

In Kalimantan customs, the myth of Kepuhunan is an event that occurs when a person in his body is possessed or entered or disturbed by a tree-waiting spirit creature that causes the person to behave abnormally. For this reason, it is necessary to know the perception of the people of Kalimantan itself about the culture of the Islands. This paper aims to describe the perception of the Kalimantan people regarding the kepuhunan, as well as its relationship with Robert T. Craig's communication theory. The subject used is the people of the island of Borneo and the method used in this study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques using literature studies. The result of this study is that the perception of the meaning has shifted. Today, the eclipse is perceived as a plague or bad luck
